Death Is Nothing At All

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you
Always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed,
At the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Pray, smile, think of me.
Let my name be ever the household word
It always was, let it be spoken without effect,
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was;
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am
out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval,
Somewhere very near, just round the corner.
All is well.

Henry Scott Holland - 1847 –1918

In small proportions we just beauties see;
And in short measure life may perfect be.
Ben Jonson - Underwoods. To the immortal Memory of Sir Lucius Cary and Sir Henry Morison. III.

For Henry

You can shed tears that he has gone
Or you can smile because he has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all he's left
You can remember him and only that he's gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he'd want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight...

A quote from Lebanese-American author Kahlil Gibran

No life passes without a purpose;
no sorrow goes uncomforted.

I'll Be There

Daddy Please don't look so sad, Momma please don't cry
Cause I am in the arms of Jesus and He sings me lullabies
Please, try not to question God, don't think he is unkind.
Don't think He sent me to you, and then He changed His mind.

You see, I am a Special child, and I'm needed up above.
I'm the Special gift you gave Him, the product of your love.
I'll always be there with you, and watch the sky at night.
Find the brightest star that's gleaming,
That's my halo's brilliant light.

You'll see me in the morning frost, that mists your window pane.
That's me in the summer showers, I'll be dancing in the rain.
When you feel a little breeze, from a gentle wind that blows.
That's me, I'll be there, planting a kiss on your nose.
When you see a child playing, and your heart feels a little tug,
That's me, I'll be there Giving your heart a hug.
So daddy, please don't look so sad, momma don't you cry.
I'm in the arms of Jesus, and He sings me lullabies.

Time goes by so fast, people go in and out of your life. You must never miss the opportunity to tell these people how much they mean to you.

Special people become part of who we are...
and our lives are richer for it.

To All Parents

“I’ll lend you for a little time a child of mine” he said,
“For you to love the while she lives, and mourn for when she’s dead.
It may be hours, or days – weeks, or years maybe
But will you, till I call her back, take care of her for me?
She’ll bring her charms to gladden you, and should her stay be brief
You’ll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down then I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked to whole world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes, I have selected you.
I know you’ll give her all your love, and not think the labour vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call to take her back again?”
I fancied that I heard you say, “Dear Lord, your will be done,
For all the joys our child shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run
We’ll shelter her with tenderness, we’ll love her while we may
And for the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay.
But though the angels called for her much sooner than we’d planned
We’ll brave the bitter tears of grief, and try to understand.

My Angel Son - Jo Gadd (Jo's story is also listed on UKVP) ^i^

The days, the weeks, the years have gone by I can't mend this broken heart no matter how hard I try I think about you every day You were so perfect in every way 10.9Ilbs so big and strong Blue eyes, blonde hair and 58cm long!

You had your dad's mouth and no doubt would have had his charm, His breathtaking smile But hopefully my ' sense of calm'!

He's gone too because he couldn't stand the pain Memories so bad they cut to the grain My hopes and dreams were shattered when you left I had to pick up the pieces and try to do my best Its hard to be brave and say its ok when you really you don't want to face another day

You fought so hard against all odds

You were the unfortunate one in three thousand they said…..

As I held my wound, lying in bed

Vasa Previa was mentioned by the midwife Little did I know about the trouble, the strife and that it would ruin my life When they called us into that room, I think we knew that we were going to have to have to let you go In my head I screamed out ‘oh no'!

When that heartbreaking moment came, it felt like a knife, going straight into our hearts.. .

the pain to remain for the rest of our lives

The vows we took couldn't keep us together No matter how I hard I tried, it wasn't going to be forever.

James Edward Gadd, our little soldier..,

We wrapped you up tight and took you outside to say goodbye The sun shone down from the big, blue sky And in our mind's eye the wings appeared to help you fly.

God bless your soul

You special, little man

You're loved, you're cherished, you should be here But one day we'll meet again, I have no fear.
